Project coordinator and scientific leadership
CINBIO (Centre for Research in Nanomaterials and Biomedicine) is a multidisciplinary research centre of the Universidade de Vigo, officially recognised by the Xunta de Galicia as a Centre of Excellence. With more than 200 researchers, it focuses on advanced research in biotechnology, nanotechnology and biomedicine. In SMACC+, CINBIO coordinates the project and contributes expertise in marine biotechnology, green extraction technologies and the development and characterisation of bioactive compounds for cosmeceutical and nutraceutical applications.

La Rochelle Universite
Marine research and dissemination
La Rochelle Universite is a public multidisciplinary French university founded in 1993, with a strong institutional focus on marine sustainability, environmental sciences and smart territories. It is home to the LIENSs laboratory (Littoral ENvironnement et Societes), a reference centre in coastal and marine research. Within SMACC+, La Rochelle Universite contributes to bioactive compound characterisation, knowledge dissemination and stakeholder engagement, supporting the integration of research outcomes into sustainable blue economy strategies.

Cultivation and pilot validation
University College Dublin (UCD) is Irelands largest university, with over 39,000 students and a strong international research profile. Through its School of Agriculture and Food Science, UCD is highly active in blue biotechnology and sustainable bioresource valorisation. In SMACC+, UCD contributes to the cultivation of microalgae, development of green extraction processes and pilot-scale validation of bioactive compounds for sustainable cosmeceutical and nutraceutical applications.

The Instituto Tecnologico de Canarias (ITC) is a public company of the Government of the Canary Islands with more than 30 years of experience in applied research, innovation and technology transfer for sustainable development. In SMACC+, ITC participates through its Biotechnology Department, contributing expertise in microalgae cultivation, biomass production and the development of eco-friendly bioactive compounds for cosmeceutical applications.

The company specialises in the design, construction and operation of algal biomass production facilities.
